Koraput: In yet another horrifying incident, a college girl was set afire by a jilted lover in Semiliguda area of Odisha’s Koraput district on Sunday.
As per reports, the girl, a student of a private engineering college in Semiliguda, was living in rented accommodation. She was proposed multiple times by the accused, identified as Gopinath Khora, in the recent past. However, the girl had rejected Khora’s proposal which infuriated him to no end.
To avenge rejection, the youth barged into the girl’s house yesterday, poured petrol on her and set her on fire before fleeing the spot.
The girl has sustained 50 percent burn injuries and is battling for life at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case against the accused and formed a special squad to nab him.
