Fuel Price Hike: BJD holds protest in front of Raj Bhawan

Bhubaneswar: Protesting the skyrocketing price of the fuel in the country, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) held a demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan here today.

Members of the youth, student and women wing of the party, the Biju Yuva Janata Dal, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal and Biju Mahila Janata Dal respectively, took part in the protest which started from the morning today and submitted a memorandum addressed to President of India to Governor Ganeshi Lal.

BJD which wants an immediately withdrawal of the hiked petrol, diesel and Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) price has vehemently criticised the ‘Achhe Din’ slogan of the BJP government at the Centre. Holding the hefty Excise duty imposition by the Centre on fuel in past four years responsible for the situation the conch party is claiming that it is the common man who is being affected badly by it.

Talking on the BJD’s stance in fuel price hike issue, senior BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma said, the BJP Government at the Centre has turned a deaf year to the plight of the people. If it continues to remain apathetic to the demand of the common man then BJD will intensify the stir to all 314 blocks of Odisha in the coming days.

Similalry, Odisha Agriculture Minister and senior BJD leader Pradeep Maharathy alleged that the fuel price hike is affecting all sections of the society including, traders, teachers, students and public servants. It will not be tolerated anymore by BJD.
