Jharsuguda: Former Sambalpur University Vice-Chancellor Dhrubaraj Nayak died after he was attacked with an axe by a miscreant.
According to sources, a drunk miscreant barged into Dhrubaraj Nayak’s house at Sarigiguda under Laikera police station limits and attacked him with an axe.
The former Sambalpur University VC who sustained critical injuries was being taken to Jharsuguda District Headquarter Hospital for treatment. However, he breathed his last on the way to the hospital.
While the exact reason behind the murder of Dhrubaraj Nayak is yet to be known, it is suspected that he might have been killed over land dispute.
A team of Laikera Police has started an investigation into the matter.
