Food Poisoning: Around 70 students, teachers of Cuttack school fall sick after picnic

Athagarh: At least 20 students along with some teachers of Khuntuni Saraswati Sishu Mandir were taken ill after consuming food during a picnic to State capital Bhubaneswar yesterday.

As per the report, at least 180 persons including students and teachers of Khuntuni Saraswati Sishu Mandir visited a picnic spot near Bhubaneswar on Thursday in three buses. However, soon after returning their homes as many as 70 students and a few teachers developed symptoms like stomach pain, nausea and vomiting.

“During our picnic to Bhubaneswar we had consumed ‘vada’ at Sri Ram Mandir, meals at Goddess Shani temple located near Vani Vihar and health condition were perfect till then. But soon after having ‘patties’ from a shop near Indira Gandhi Park in the city a few of the students developed stomach illness. Their condition deteriorated after reached home,” informed an ailing teacher of the school.

Meanwhile, it has come to notice that around 10 student and some teachers of the school have been admitted to Madhapur hospital whereas 15 more are being treated at Athagarh Sub Divisional Hospital. Similarly, as many as 70 students have been taken to Khuntuni hospital due to sickness since last night.

State Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Ranendra Pratap Swain has visited the hospitals where the sick students and teachers are admitted and assured for proper medical care of the patients.
