Flood situation grim in Aul; several villages inundated

Kendrapara floodKendrapara: The flood situation in Kendrapara district flood situation remained critical for the third consecutive day on Sunday with Aul block being the worst affected area. Flood water ingress in several villages in the block caused by rise in the water level in Brahmani and Kani rivers has thrown life out of gear.

According to reports, flood water from river Brahmani entered several panchayats under Aul block, including Narendrapur, Koladhia, Bada Ambila, Ekamania and Patrapur, today. Around 20 villages under these panchayats remained inundated as a result. The Cuttack-Chandbali road remained submerged under four meters of flood water throughout the day today cutting off road communication between Aul and Pattamundai after the water level crossed the danger mark near Patrapur bridge over river Brahmani.

Around 60 villages under 11 panchayats in the lower catchment areas of Kani river werw cut-off from the rest of the block because of flood water ingress today. Flood water was flowing over Bhuinpur-Singhpur road at a height of four meters near Manpur area till this report was filed.
