Bhubaneswar: Assets worth lakhs were gutted in a major fire which broke out at a competitive exam coaching centre in Acharya Vihar area in the city this morning.
As per the report, sparks erupted at the Disha Pro coaching centre at around 7.30 AM and spread to the entire building housing it. Valuable properties including furniture, electronic items including computers and valuable documents were engulfed in flames till the coaching centre authorities called the fire brigade office for assistance.
The blaze was brought under control after Herculean effort of at least two fire tenders which were pressed into action to douse fire.
No casualty was reported in the mishap as classes had not commenced at the coaching centre till the time of the mishap.
While fire officials investigating into the case, they are suspecting that an electric short circuit at a transformer located near the building could have triggered the fire.
