Anandapur: The body of a female elephant was found dead near Tulukpada village in the forest area of Kaliahata Forest Beat of Kalapat reserved area under the Telkoi forest in Keonjhar district of Odisha.
The cause of death is yet to be known.
According to sources, some villagers from Tulukpada village found the dead body of the elephant when they went to the forest.
They immediately informed the local forest officials about the dead elephant. After being informed, Keonjhar DFO along with a scientific team arrived at the spot.
The elephant is believed to have died yesterday.
An elephant herd was spotted living in the area for some time now.
The forest department is currently investigating the cause of the death of the jumbo.
