Fake Covid certificate alert! Diagnostic Centre in Bhubaneswar gets show cause notice

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday issued a show cause notice to a diagnostic centre in Sahid Nagar area of Bhubaneswar for allegedly issuing fake COVID RT-PCR certificate.

Reportedly, BMC collected the information from a newspaper article regarding fake COVID positive certificate to a person.

“It appears that one random person has submitted his/her Aadhaar Card in WhatsApp and managed to obtain a COVID positive certificate mentioning Sample ID: 340855001 and SRF ID: 2136202274555 without going through the procedure of obtaining genuine sample and putting it to appropriate test,” the civic body mentioned in the notice.

“You are therefore called upon to show cause within three days (72 Hours) of receipt of this notice why the license issued by the competent authority will not be cancelled for violating the provision of relevant statutes/License conditions and action as per Epidemic Diseases Act will not be taken against you,” added the show cause notice.

BMC has also warned that in case no reply is received within the given period, it will be presumed that no explanation has to be given and action will be taken against the diagnostic centre.

Besides, the capital city recorded 175 new covid-19 positive cases including 49 quarantine cases and 126 local contact cases.
