Electrician charred to death atop transformer in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: In a shocking incident an electrician was electrocuted and burnt alive on a transformer while repairing it in Rengali village under Rengali police limits on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Kanhu Charan Sahoo (30), a resident of Saria area of neighbouring Chhattisgarh State.

As per the report, Sahoo who had been newly appointed as a contractual electrician in an outsourcing agency engaged on work by the electricity department, climbed atop a high voltage electric transformer located close to Jharigaon this morning. However, while putting a cut out in its socket somebody in the nearby substation switched on the power supply due to which he was glued to the electrical equipment and was charred to death on the spot.

Locals staged a road blockade in the area protesting the incident and demanded action against the guilty.

Rengali Police rushed to the spot and started investigation into the incident, later.
