Cuttack: An elderly woman drowned to death in Bilipada village under Banki police limits in the district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Manjulata Sasmal (60) of the same village.
As per the family members of the deceased, she visited a pond located in the village early in the morning to take bath and didn’t return. Some locals spotted her body floating in the pond later in the morning and informed them. She could have slipped into the water while taking bath, they suspected.
The body was fished out of the water by fire officials and was rushed for post-mortem.
Police have reached the spot and started probe into the incident.
