Balangir: Launching a crackdown of history-sheeters in the district, Balangir Police today arrested dreaded criminal Sitaram Rana following an encounter in Duhel village, in which he sustained bullet injury.
Acting upon a tip-off on the hideout of Rana in Duhel village, Puintala Police raided on it in the wee hours today. During the raid the accused opened fire at the cops in his attempt to flee from the spot.
As the police team retaliated, Rana sustained a bullet injury on his left leg to fell down and caught.
Police rushed Rana immediately to Balangir District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and then shifted to VIMSAR in Sambalpur for better treatment.
The held criminal has a number of criminal cases pending against him at different police stations in Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh and Kalahandi, informed Srimant Barik, SDPO Balangir.
