Sambalpur: Police today arrested dreaded criminal Amit Sahu after an encounter near a temple under Khetrajpur police limits in the district this evening.
Police said that Sahu allegedly kidnapped a youth and demanded a ransom of Rs 60000 to release him. The family members of the victim later lodged a police complaint.
Police managed to trace Sahu who opened fire at the police. In retaliation, police opened fire leading to injury of the criminal. Police have seized a pistol and live ammunition from the possession of Sahu.
Police said that Sahu has as many as nine criminal cases pending against him at various police stations in Sambalpur.
