Koraput: Two youths were killed following an altercation that broke out between two groups at Sindhipar village under Damanjodi Police Station in the Koraput district on Thursday night.
The deceased have been identified as Purna Nayak and Debendra Dami of Jhadiguda village.
Reportedly, the youths were attacked with sharp weapons after a fight between people of two neighboring streets during Chaitra Parba in the village. As a result, both of them died while another youth, identified as Somnath Dami, sustained critical injuries.
On getting the information, a police team led by Damanjodi PS IIC Gourahari Sahu arrived at the spot and detained some persons in this connection. A probe into the case is underway. The main accused is still absconding and a manhunt has been initiated to apprehend him.
Meanwhile, the injured youth has been shifted to a hospital. Adding to it, two platoons of police force have been deployed in the area.
