Cyclone Gulab to make landfall by midnight of Sunday in Odisha: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic storm Gulab will make landfall by midnight, informed a revised bulletin of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

“The cyclonic storm is likely to move nearly westwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur around mid-night of September 26,” informed Odisha Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena on Twitter.

It is noteworthy that according to the earlier forecast the cyclone was likely to cross north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur around evening of September 26.

However according to the latest bulletin issued this morning said the system is likely to cross north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur around night of September 26.

Under the impact of cyclone ‘Gulab,’ heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some places of Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurdha and Ganjam districts.

Likewise, heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely to occur in the coastal and south districts of the State for the next two days.

The concerned district collectors have been directed to stay alert and take precautionary steps.
