Angul: In a suspected case of suicide over failed love, a couple committed suicide by hanging themselves to a tree near Chandi Bazar area under Kumanda in Angul district today.
The deceased couple has been identified as Ranjan Sahoo and his wife’s sister-in-law Sujata Sahoo of the same village.
The incident came to light after some locals first spotted the hanging bodies this morning and called up police. The duo was seen hanging to the tree with the saree of the woman.
While police has rushed the bodies for autopsy and started investigation into the incident, some locals informed that they had fled from their homes four days ago after remaining in an illicit affair for past few days.
