Rayagada: In what could be considered as a major success for drive against drug dealings, Muniguda Police in Odisha’s Rayagada seized cigarettes worth around Rs 20 lakh on Tuesday.
According to reports, Muniguda police, acting on a tip-off, conducted raid in a godown in Muniguda and seized 942 kgs of cigarettes which were packed in 30 plastic sacks.
Sources said that the seized contraband, the market value of which is assumed to be worth Rs 19, 55,000, was stored in a godown for sale without license.
Police also arrested a person for his involvement in the case and identified him as A. Dillip Kumar Subudhi, added the sources.
Moreover, a case under proper Acts and sections has been registered and further investigation is underway to find out the involvement of others in the case.
