Bus helper electrocuted in Odisha’s Gajapati

Paralakhemundi: A youth, who was on board in a private bus, was electrocuted near Ranipentha Chhak under Paralakhemundi police limits in Odisha’s Gajapati district on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Dinabandhu alias Kala of Naira village in Rayagada district. He was working as the helper of a private bus named as Saptagiri Bus bearing Registration No: OR01N 1212.

According to report, Dinabandhu washed the bus and offered puja to the vehicle before carrying passengers from the city. The bus runs from Paralakhemundi to Nabarangpur.

The incident occurred, when the driver started the engine and the bus came in contact with an overhead livewire after a flock of crows sat on the wire.

Dinabandhu, who was standing near the gate of the bus, was thrown off the bus due to the impact. He died on the spot.

On being informed Paralakhemundi police reached the spot and seized the body as well as the vehicle.

The body was sent for autopsy test; Investigation into the matter was on, police said.
