Budget Session of Odisha Assembly starts today

Bhubaneswar: The Budget Session of Odisha Assembly will start today and will continue till February 12.

The Session which will have total seven working days will start with Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal’s address to the House at 11 am.

As per a notification issued earlier, State Finance Minister Sashi Bhushan Behera would present the vote-on-account for 2019-20 financial year on February 7 during the Session. The appropriation bill for the next three months will be passed on the next day on February 8.

The Budget Session-2019, which will be the last session ahead of the upcoming Assembly election, is expected to be stormy taking into account the fact that, the Opposition parties are gearing up to corner the government over various issues.

Meanwhile, Odisha Police has tightened security in and around the Assembly premise with DGP RP Sharma reviewing the arrangements. At least 30 platoons of the police force have been deployed on duty for the purpose and 100 senior cops engaged. Barricading has also been put in place at several places on the route connecting the State Assembly to rest of the city.
