Balasore: In a major success to Balasore Police against illegal drug traders it arrested at least three peddlers by conducting a raid in and seized 302 gram brown sugar from their possession near Luniajodi bridge in Sahadevkhunta area here last night.
The held peddlers have been identified as peddlers Pitabas Rana (29) of Kumbhilo village in Khordha, Bhabani Prasad Swain (22) of Jagulipatna of Khordha and drug mafia SK Hyder Ali (26) of Arad Bazar of Balasore.
Acting upon a tip-off on the illegal drug deal which was undergoing at Mukti Dwar near Luniajodi bridge the Sahadevkhunta Police raided the spot last night. During the raid police found the peddler duo trying to hand over cash worth Rs 9,44, 080 to Ali to purchase brown sugar.
While police managed to arrest two of the accused from the spot and seized the cash along with three mobile phones and two bikes from their possession another escaped and was later caught from Jaleswar area, informed Balasore SP B Jugal Kishore at a press conference today.
The seized brown sugar would worth over Rs 30 lakh, said police.
