Jagatisinghpur: Unearthing the wretched state of healthcare facility in the districts, body of a newborn boy was found from a toilet pan on the premises of Jagatsinghur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) today.
The incident came to light after some attendants of a patient spotted the baby’s body, wrapped in a polythene bag, lying inside the toilet pan of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology ward of the hospital this morning. They immediately took the matter to the notice of the hospital authorities.
The authorities immediately swung into action to recover the body for autopsy.
Later, an investigation was ordered into the incident to find out who had dumped the body in the toilet. CCTV footages available with the hospital are being examined for the purpose and doctors, nurses and other hospital staff are being quizzed in this connection.
