BJD is ready for early elections: Pratap Keshari Deb

Bhubaneswar: While speculation of early elections is on the rife, the state ruling BJD on Sunday claimed that is all set for the polls in accordance with the preparations of the State Election Commission.

“BJD is planning its strategy keeping in view the way State Election Commission has started preparations by forwarding instructions to Collectors and BDOs to be ready for the election,” said BJD spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Keshari Deb.

“We are always ready and will face the election successfully if it is held even tomorrow,” he added.

On the other hand, the State Election Commission conducted an examination of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) over the preparation and revision of the electoral rolls. As many as 166 EROs and AEROs appeared the exam.

“The EROs and AEROs had undertaken a certification programme after which an examination was conducted in the month of April to evaluate what knowledge they have gained during the training. The absentees and the disqualified candidates of the previous examination appeared another test today,” said Additional Chief Electoral Officer Kashinath Sahoo.
