Balangir lady teacher missing case: Detained school owner escapes, 3 police suspended

Balangir: The owner of Sunshine Public School managing committee, who was detained in connection with his alleged role in the missing of a lady teacher, has escaped from the custody of Titlagarh Police despite strict security. Due to this, the three police personnel who were guarding Govinda at the barrack have been suspended from service today by the Titlagarh SP for dereliction of duty.

Reportedly, the owner of Sunshine English Medium School, Govinda Sahu, at Mahaling under Sindhekela Police limits of Kalahandi district was detained on Sunday night for questioning in connection with the missing case of the lady teacher Mamita Meher. He was kept under supervision of two constables and a senior police officer. However, Govinda managed to escape from the spot.

Thereafter, Titlagarh Police has installed check posts at several places in the town and initiated a manhunt to apprehend him. The cops are also examining the CCTV footage that is installed near the barrack.

Mamita’s family has alleged that she was asked by Govinda to reach Sunshine Public School for a meeting but she did not return back. The family lodged a complaint with the police against Govinda following which he was detained by the police for questioning.
