Bhubaneswar: The delivery boy Patitapaban Prusty alias Chikun was arrested by the Commissionerate Police on Wednesday for allegedly faking his own kidnapping.
The 4-member special squad team along with Dhauli police brought the duo back to Odisha from Madhya-Pradesh and have recorded their statement.
The girl who was found with him in Madhya Pradesh said that she had eloped with him and was not abducted.
During investigation, the Dhauli Police tracked the duo down at Katni railway station in Madhya Pradesh through the CCTV footage and later the Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained them following intimation by the Commissionerate Police.
The girl who eloped with Chikun is a college student. Her parents, residents of Gop area in Puri district, had lodged a complaint with Gop police alleging that Patitapaban kidnapped their daughter.
They also alleged that Patitapaban was in a relationship with their daughter before his marriage. He continued the relationship even after his marriage, they claimed.
