Aahar Centres in Bhubaneswar to Reopen On Wednesday

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today decided to reopen the Aahaar centres in the city from Wednesday.

The Aahar Yojna was introduced in 2015 to provide cooked hot meals – steamed rice and dalma- to the poor and needy people at the cost of Rs 5. The city has currently 11 Aahar centres to serve cooked food.

BMC officials said that the decision was taken after several rounds of meetings for assessing the damage in the central kitchen at Bamphakuda near Nakhara and the Aahar centres under the  BMC.

Similarly the civic body has also decided to open 200 “jal seva sibir’’ or temporary water kiosks across the city. BMC will also provide an assistance of Rs 5,000 to all agencies concerned for reopening the water kiosks which were damaged during Fani.
