Khordha: At least eight houses were gutted and property worth lakhs lost in a massive fire which broke out in Sarapari village under Tangi block in Khordha district last night.
As per the report, sparks erupted in one Anjali Nayak’s home in Harijan Sahi area in the village and later spread to other houses in the neighbourhood late in the night. The flames spread very fast and engulfed Nayak’s three rooms along with an equal number of Kamalini Nayak and two more rooms of Padma Charan Nayak in the area.
Kamalini, who was preparing for her daughter’s marriage lost valuable items like furniture and electronic goods purchased for the purpose.
Fire Brigade teams from Khordha reached the spot and doused the fire later in the night.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
