8 Bol Bam devotees hurt after being hit by SUV in Koraput

Jeypore: At least four Bol Bam devotees suffered leg fracture and equal number sustained injuries after being hit by a speeding SUV on Jeypore-Boipariguda road in Koraput district late last night.

As per the report, the victims were en-route to Gupteshwar Temple to offer holy water to the deity on the occasion of Sharaban month, when the mishap took place. Driver of a speeding SUV which was coming from behind lost control over the wheels and hit them from behind.

The victim were rushed to Jeypore Sub Divisional Hospital immediately after the accident and then shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.

Police have lodged a case in connection with the incident and are trying to trace the SUV which fled from the spot after the accident.

Notably, in a similar incident on Friday at least two Bol Bam devotees had been killed and eight others sustained injuries after a SUV which they were boarding was hit by a speeding truck near Duarasuni Ghat under Bangiriposi police limits in Mayurbhanj district.
