21 kg ganja seized in Jharsuguda, GRP Constable hurt in knife attack

Jharsuguda: Launching a crackdown on illegal drug traders in the district, police held at least two peddlers from Bamra railway station in Jharsuguda last night and seized 21 kg ganja from their possession.

The held accused duo has been identified as Sambhu Das of Cuttack and Narayan Dakua of Berhampur.

As per the report, Government Railway Police (GRP) Constable Parshuram Bibhar, who had been deployed on duty near a ticket counter at Bamra railway station last night while spotted a suspicious bag possessed by one of the accused.

As Parshuram inquired about the bag the accused attacked him with a knife to escape from the spot injuring him critically. However, despite his injury, the cop managed to nab one of the two accused.

During the search of the bag ganja weighing around 21 kg was recovered and seized.

While the injured Constable has been admitted to Jharsuguda hospital for treatment the interrogation of the held accused duo is underway.
