Jajpur: In a tragic incident, at least two persons were killed and another sustained critical injuries after wall of a house collapsed on them in Balipatana village under Kuakhia police limits in Jajpur district today.
The deceased has been identified as Banamali Barik (55), owner of the house, and Chandan Lenka (25), a daily wager.
The mishap took place today morning while demolition work of the house of Banamali was underway in the village. While, Chandan along with another labourer Panchanan Nath was busy in bringing down a wall of the house it suddenly caved in.
As the debris fall on the trio working near the house, Banamali and Chandan came under the debris and were crushed to death on the spot.
Panchanan, who sustained critical injury in the wall collapse, was rushed to Dharmasala Community Hospital (CHC) for better treatment later.
The family members of the deceased have suspected that the wall which collapsed had been weakened by Monsoon rainfall in past couple of days.
