1 killed in road accident in Jharsuguda of Odisha

Jharsuguda: In a tragic incident, a youth has been killed in a road accident on national highway 49 in under Lakhanpur police limits in Jharsuguda district of Odisha on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Narottam Pradha.

Reportedly, the youth was returning to his home when an unidentified vehicle hit his bike near Prakash Dhaba at Govindpur Chhak in Samarbaga due to which he took his last breath on the spot.

The locals immediately informed the local police. On being informed, the cops arrived at the spot and recovered the body.

The body has been sent for autopsy and the cops have initiated a probe into the matter.

On the other hand, a manure loaded 14 wheeler truck, bearing registration number OD 23 H 9807, was travelling from Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to Jharsguda when it lost control over wheels and it turned turtle on the Rayagada over bridge.

As a result, the side wall of the over bridge was broken. However, the driver of the truck escaped narrowly nor any passerby has been injured as the incident occurred late on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

On getting the information, the local police arrived at the spot and cleared the truck which blocked the road. The driver was then taken to nearby hospital for first aid following which he has been detained by the police for interrogation.

From the preliminary investigation it has been revealed that the driver was in an inebriated state while driving.
