As the curtain falls on the 45-day-long Cricket World Cup 2023, India and Australia are gearing up for a high-stakes clash in the final at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Apart from the glory of lifting the coveted trophy, a substantial prize money awaits the winners and runners-up, as revealed by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

In a pre-tournament release, the ICC disclosed that the winners of the Cricket World Cup 2023 would be rewarded with a staggering USD 4 million (INR 33,31,67,000 approx.), emphasizing the magnitude of the achievement. Meanwhile, the runners-up will not leave empty-handed, securing a significant sum of USD 2 million (INR 16,65,83,500 approx.) for their impressive campaign.

The total prize money pool for the tournament stands at USD 10 million, with a comprehensive breakdown highlighting the financial rewards for teams at various stages:

  • Winners: USD 4,000,000 | Total: USD 4,000,000
  • Runners-up: USD 2,000,000 | Total: USD 2,000,000
  • Losing Semi-Finalists: USD 800,000 each | Total: USD 1,600,000
  • Teams eliminated after group stage (6): USD 100,000 each | Total: USD 600,000
  • Winner of each group stage match (45): USD 40,000 each | Total: USD 1,800,000

Highlighting the competitive nature of the group stage, teams not only vied for advancement but also for a USD 40,000 cash prize for every victory. Furthermore, teams falling short of the knockout stage will receive a consolation prize of USD 100,000 each.

The Cricket World Cup 2023 final is set to unfold at the majestic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, boasting a capacity of 132,000. Having undergone redevelopment in 2021, the stadium has already witnessed cricketing spectacles, including a day-night Test between India and England, as well as the last two IPL finals.
