Australia to face England in second semi-finals

New Delhi: Riding on their seven-wicket win against Sri Lanka, India took the top spot on the points table with 15 points from nine matches. Hence they will meet New Zealand in the first semi-finals to be played at Old Trafford in Manchester on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Australia, who were the table toppers before their 10-run defeat against South Africa, slipped to the second position. England are placed third with 12 points, while New Zealand occupy the fourth spot with 11.

Australia will lock horns with England in the second semi-final that is scheduled to be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Thursday.

The final will be played at the Lord’s on Sunday.

India, Australia, England and New Zealand will vie for spots in the final to be played at Lord’s. India and Australia have been ruthless throughout the 2019 World Cup and will be looking to win the coveted trophy.

Hosts England have reached the World Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1992. Australia and New Zealand are in the World Cup semis for the 8th time while India will feature in their 7th World Cup semi-final.

Australia have won the World Cup 5 times while India have lifted the trophy twice in 1983 and 2011. New Zealand and England are yet to win the World Cup.
