While the exact issue is not clear yet, it is said that Virat Kohli will be back in time for India’s first Test match against South Africa in Centurion, which starts from December 26.

Reportedly, Kohli asked for a break of two days from the Indian team management. However, he has missed the three-day intra-squad game currently underway in Pretoria.

Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the Test series. The player has been ruled out due to a fracture to his finger which is likely to take him five weeks to recover from. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce the replacement for Gaikwad today.

According to reports, the player suffered the injury to his finger during the second ODI against the Proteas at Port Elizabeth on December 19.

India will play a two-match Test series against South Africa. The first match is set to start from December 26 and concludes on December 30. The second Test will be played from January 3 at Cape Town.
