New Delhi: Indian badminton sensation PV Sindhu has revealed a confirmed knee injury niggle that forced her to retire from a BWF Tour Super 750 event match during the French Open last week.

Sindhu, who had been competing against Supanida Katethong in the Round 2, had secured the first game 21-18. However, during the second game, with the score tied at 1-1, she encountered discomfort and sustained a knee injury while attempting a return, ultimately leading to her mid-game retirement. In a statement on Tuesday, October 31, Sindhu shared her plans for recovery.

Taking to social media to provide an update on her condition, Sindhu expressed, “Determined to come back firing on all cylinders. Not the ideal update, but going to make this count. Let’s do this.”

Sindhu emphasized that the break will allow her to channel all her efforts toward the upcoming Olympics and affirmed her commitment to returning to the court. She stated, “After returning from France and undergoing a knee scan, we’ve found a niggle in my left knee.

In hindsight, conceding the match was the best call. Doctors have advised a few weeks of rest before I begin training again. The break is also an opportunity to focus on the upcoming Olympics. Thank you to everyone who continues to support me; your love makes the journey worth it. I shall be back on the court very soon.”
