IWLF National Weightlifting Championships 2021-22: Kuldeep Sahu wins Odisha’s first gold medal

Bhubaneswar: Lifter Kuldeep Sahu gave Odisha it’s first gold medal of the ongoing IWLF National Weightlifting Championships 2021-22.

Kuldeep Sahu clinched the yellow metal as he bagged the gold in the 73 kg Youth Category today.

Earlier yesterday, Susant Sahu of Odisha had bagged the bronze medal in the 67 kg Inter State Men’s Category. He won the medal with a total lift of 268 kg (117kg in snatch and 151kg in clean and jerk).

Odisha is the host of IWLF National Weightlifting Championships, 2021-22 for men & women under youth, junior & senior categories. The Championship is being hed at Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium, KIIT Deemed to be University.

Over 1300 athletes, support staff and technical officials from 30 States and UTs are taking part in the national championships which started from March 19.

The competition is being held in 10 different weight categories for youth (boys & girls), junior & seniors (men & women). As many as 58 technical officials (45 male & 13 female) have been given the responsibility for conducting the championship.
