IPL Auction 2024: Mitchell Starc surpasses Pat Cummins to become most expensive player in IPL history

Australia’s fast bowler, Mitchell Starc has surpassed Pat Cummins to become the most expensive player in IPL history during auction.

Dubai: Australia’s fast bowler, Mitchell Starc has surpassed Pat Cummins to become the most expensive player in the history of Indian Premiere League (IPL). The player has been bought by Kolkata Knight Riders at Rs 24.75 lakh in the ongoing IPL 2024 auction at Dubai.

Earlier, Australia’s World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rs 20.50 crores. Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell from New Zealand has been sold to Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14 crore. India’s Harshal Patel has been sold out to Punjab Kings at Rs 11.75 crores.

By the end of the second round of the auction, players including Daryl Mitchell (Rs 14 crores), Shradul Thakur (Rs 4 crores) and Rachin Ravindra (Rs 1.8 crores) have been purchased by Chennai Super Kings so far. Harry Brook has been bought by Delhi Capitals at Rs 4 crores.

Punjab Kings has got Harshal Patel for Rs 11.75 crore and Chris Woakes Rs 4.20 crore. At the same time, Azmatullah Omarzai from Afghanistan has been sold to Gujarat Titans at Rs 50 lakh. Mumbai Indians has so far bought Gerald Coetzee for Rs 5 crores. Rajasthan Royals has purchased Rovman Powell for Rs 7.4 crores.

However, players including Rilee Rossouw, Karun Nair, Steven Smith and Manish Pander remain unsold in the first set of the IPL 2024 auction.
