PM Modi congratulates Indian Women’s team victory in World Archery Championships

Germany: The Indian women’s archery team etched their names in history as V. Jyothi Surekha, Aditi Swami, and Parneet Kaur secured their maiden gold medal at the World Archery Championships in Berlin on August 4, 2023.

In a remarkable feat, the trio displayed exceptional skill and precision to emerge victorious in the compound women’s team final, outshining top-ranked Mexico with a convincing 235-229 scoreline. The Indian archers demonstrated unwavering consistency, clinching victory in all four ends to claim the prestigious title.

This ground-breaking achievement marks a significant milestone for Indian archery, as the talented trio becomes the first to secure a World crown at the elite level. Prior to this historic win, Indian archers had previously secured World Under-21 and Under-18 titles, making this gold medal triumph even more special.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the Indian women’s compound team on winning India’s first-ever Gold medal in Berlin. In a tweet, Mr. Modi said it was a proud moment for India. He said their hard work and dedication have led to this outstanding outcome.
