India vs West Indies ODI: Batter Shimron Hetmyer to join WI team

Team West Indies has recalled star batter Shimron Hetmyer for their upcoming three-match ODI series, said reports on Tuesday.

Port of Spain (ANI): Rain helped India win the test match series against West Indies as it prevented play on the fifth day. Team West Indies has recalled star batter Shimron Hetmyer for their upcoming three-match ODI series. The ODI series against India is scheduled to start on Thursday at Kensington Oval.

Hetmyer has not played for West Indies in almost a year but earns a recall on the back of a solid season in the Indian Premier League with the Rajasthan Royals.

The batter had scored a total of 299 runs from 13 innings. The left-hander has not played an ODI for the Caribbean side since two years.

Hetmyer last appeared in a 50-over match against Australia in July 2021. The 15-member squad was named following a four-day camp at Kensington Oval held to prepare the white-ball players for the upcoming ODI Series.

The selectors also recalled left-handed batter Shimron Hetmyer and fast bowler Oshane Thomas. Fast bowler Jayden Seales and leg-spinner Yannic Cariah have been included while left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has also been added to the team following his recovery from an injury.
