Day 7 of Men’s Hockey World Cup
England, Australia meet for first encounter, while Ireland, China for second.
Bhubaneswar: Pool B will have two matches today. The first match will start at 5 pm; while the second at 7 pm. Both of the matches will be held at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. They will be telecast on Start Sports Network and Doordarshan.
The world no. 1 Australia is the favourites in this group. The 2nd ranked England are here to provide some tough competition. Australia is also the defending champions.
A win in this match will put the defending champions in pole position and also secure their entry in the knockout stages. The previous two meetings have always been in favour of the Kookaburras, but England doesn’t seem to give up this chance for revenge so easily.
Ireland and China will face each other in second match today. Both the teams were mostly on the back foot in their first matches as they faced much higher ranked teams.
Both of the teams would like to step up and prove their worth to the world. While the Irish are a promising bunch of players, Chinese spark might just steal the limelight.
