Every cricket match manages to make us laugh with some funny incident happened on it. Such clips are later edited by some cricket fans by adding amusing background music to make it even funnier. However, back in November 2017, in Delhi, such an incident occured that is too funny on itself. During a cricket match between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, a man drove his car into the pitch, which made the play halt for a brief period of time.
The incident took place at Delhi’s Air Force Sports Complex in Palam during a Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The rupture at the venue did not only left the security dumbfounded but it was equally shocking for the fans and the players present on the field. Ace Indina cricketers like Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma and Suresh Raina were playing that game. After that incident, Ishant took to his Twitter handle to share a picture of the incident and raised concerns over players’ safety.
In his tweet Ishant wrote, “Drive in theater just progressed to #DriveIn match. Shocking scene in between #RanjiTrophy match today witnessed with @GautamGambhir.”

Suresh Raina, who was captaining for Uttar Pradesh in that match, also ranted over the security breach. Following the incident he tweeted, “Very disturbing to see our Ranji Trophy game being interrupted in this fashion today! Thankfully all players are safe.”

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The man drove his car onto the pitch 20 minutes before stumps. The driver was then taken into custody, and after the matter was sought, the umpire gave a good look at the 22 yards before allowing the game to resume. In order to cover up for the lost time, the match was also extended by 20 minutes that day.
Albeit the disruption, the Ishant Sharma-led Delhi team manaeged to win over Raina’s team. Delhi won that match by four wickets.
