Yet another elephant found dead inside Similipal National Park

In a saddening incident for the animal lovers, yet another elephant was reportedly found dead inside the Similipal National Park situated in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

Baripada: In a saddening incident for the animal lovers, yet another elephant was reportedly found dead inside the Similipal National Park situated in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The forest officials reportedly spotted the carcass of the female elephant while patrolling under the Kabatghai forest range yesterday. The wild animal’s age is assumed to be around 12 years.

Suspecting the pachyderm to have died after being affected by anthrax, the forest officials conducted test. However, after knowing that it did not die due to anthrax, they conducted a postmortem to ascertain the reason of the animal’s death.

Field Director Similipal Tiger Reserve-cum-Regional Chief Conservator of Forests (RCCF) informed that the exact cause of elephant’s death will be ascertained after the postmortem.
