Saptami in mandaps and Astami in peethas of Maa Durga today, festive fervor all over Odisha

The whole city seems to have been lit up, there is festive fervor in the air as Durga Saptami in Odisha is being celebrated with much enthusiasm. 

Bhubaneswar: The whole city seems to have been lit up, there is festive fervor in the air as Durga Saptami in Odisha is being celebrated with much enthusiasm.

Durga is believed to be the destroyer of evil. She is very powerful and listens to her believers whenever they call upon her. Today is Maha Sapami in the mandaps whereas it is Astami in the Durga peethas or mandirs. The devotees are slowly gathering in temples and mandaps to catch a glimpse of Maa Durga.

The Rasulgarh Puja Committee in Bhubaneswar the capital city of Odisha is organizing its 31st puja. The mandap that houses Goddess Durga resembles the structure of Thailand Buddha Temple.

The tower is 65 feet high and 120 feet wide. The budget is of 50 lakhs. Today for fetching water, a Kalas Yatra will be held. The chakhyudaan (giving of eyes to the goddess) will be held today.

Security has been tightened by Commissionerate Police to keep an eye on miscreants during the puja. 31 platoons police force will be deployed. The Commissionerate Police has given special attention to the traffic regulations and specified various routes.
