PM Modi praises couple from Odisha’s Kalahandi district for success in goat rearing

Bhawanipatna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 110th edition of ‘Mann ki Baat’ on Sunday praised the effort of a couple on goat rearing from Kalahandi district of Odisha. He lauded Jayanti Mohapatra and Biren Sahu.

The Prime Minister said that this couple from Kalahandi are highly educated. They have completed academic course on Management studies from Bangaluru. Later, they ventured to goat rearing in their native place Kalahandi and got huge success. Reportedly, about one thousand people from approximately fifty villages get benefited from goat farming by this couple.

The PM Modi said, “We often limit the talk to cows and buffaloes only but goats are also an important livestock which is not discussed much. Many people in different areas of the country are also associated with goat rearing. In Kalahandi, Odisha, goat rearing is becoming a major source of livelihood of the villagers and is enhancing their standard of living as well.”

The PM further said in the programme that airing of ‘Man Ki Baat’ will be discontinued for coming three months as the election code of conduct will come into force from March. The 111th edition may come after three months. Hence, he appealed to make shorts of the programme and share on YouTube.
