Petrol pumps run dry in Cuttack of Odisha, fuel being black-marketed

Some petrol tanks in Cuttack have run out of petrol while diesel is still available. Petrol is being sold in the black market at high rates.

Cuttack: Some petrol tanks in Cuttack have run out of petrol while diesel is still available. A lot of people were seen being harassed when the petrol pump ran out in Khan Nagar.

On the other hand, petrol is being sold in the black market. Common people are paying Rs. 140 to Rs. 150 per liter for petrol.

The ‘quit steering’ drivers strike has been called off in Odisha and transport has returned to normalcy said reports on Monday and it is expected that fuel supply will be normal in some time.

According to reliable reports, the strike was reportedly called off after the drivers’ discussion with the State government reached common grounds. The plying of vehicles shall be normal in the State.

The ‘quit steering’ agitation of the drivers had been staged over the new law on ‘hit and run’. After a discussion with the Government, the Driver Mahasangha President Prashanta Menduli appealed the drivers to return to work at the earliest.

The Transport Commissioner said that the drivers have suspended the agitation as the state government has fulfilled the demands of the drivers. The “Quit Steering” protest by the Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha had started on January 5.
