Petrol pumps fined over Rs 10 lakh for tampering with dispensing units in Odisha

Odisha Consumer Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak told the State Assembly today that over Rs 10 lakh fines were collected from different petrol pumps for allegedly tampering with dispensing units.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Consumer Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak told the State Assembly today that over Rs 10 lakh fines were collected from different petrol pumps for allegedly tampering with dispensing units.

Replying to an unstarred question by BJD MLA Prasanta Behera, Nayak said that a total of 83 cases were registered against the fuel stations for tampering with dispensing units in the last three years between 2020 and 2023 and as part of actions, the Quality Assurance Cell and Vigilance Wing conducted raids and imposed a fine of Rs 10,66,000 on those pumps.

As per the data of the Minister, as many as 37 cases were registered against filling stations between 2020 and 2021 financial year and a fine of Rs 4,06,000 was collected from them.

Similarly, in 2021-22 and 2022-23 as many as 22 and 24 cases were registered respectively. While a fine of Rs 3,43,000 was collected in in 2021-22, a fine of Rs 3,17,000 was collected in 2022-23.
