Odisha To Set Up Quarantine Centres At Zilla Parishad For Migrants

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is gearing up once again to set up quarantine centres at Zilla Parishad for migrant workers returning home as the number of COVID-19 cases mount in the country.

With Covid cases rising at an alarming rate in the country, many states have imposed lockdown and the migrants have started returning back. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik have asked to ramp up beds with oxygen system, quarantine centres, informed Labour Minister Sushant Singh.

Last year, quarantine centre was formed in Panchayat level, but this year we have started setting up quarantine centres at Zilla Parishad zones in the first phase, added Singh.

It is expected that most of the migrants will return from Chattisgarh. Last year around 9 lakhs migrants had returned back to Odisha, but this year, it is expected that fewer number or migrants might return, added Sushant.
