Odisha temperature to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the Indian Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar has informed that the temperature of Odisha will fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the upcoming days.

Reportedly, the hot winds from the west-northwest to the state have been gradually weakening whereas the cool sea breeze.

As a result, the flow of heat will flow from today. The temperature will drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. There is also a possibility of a thunderstorm and spells of rain.

Notably, as many as eight places in Odisha have recorded day temperatures above 39 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Balangir recorded the highest temperature 40.6°C.

Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 36.2 degree and 37.8 degree Celsius respectively.

Besides, the low pressure that was formed over the South Bay of Bengal on Wednesday morning is likely to move east-northeastwards & become a well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south the Andaman Sea around the morning of March 19.

It will intensify into a depression by the morning of March 20 and further into a cyclonic storm, named Asani, around March 21. It would then continue to move north-northwestwards till March 22.

It will further move north-northeastwards and reach near Bangladesh and adjoining north Myanmar coast by the morning of March 23.

However, there will be no impact of cyclone Asani on Odisha, said Director-General of Meteorology, India Meteorological Department (IMD DG) Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.
