Odisha Municipal Election: Collectors issue notification on ward wise restructuring and reservation

Bhubaneswar: The procedure for Municipal Elections in Odisha has begun. The collectors of all the districts have issued notification on ward wise restructuring and reservation.

Reportedly, the citizens will file their objections regarding the notification by November 14. Following this, the collectors will look upon the complaints and declare a final list of ward wise restructuring and reservation.

The people can directly lodge their complaints or any proposal to the Department of Housing & Urban Development, added reports.

Thereafter, the Urban Development Department will issue a final notice and hand it over to the Election Commission.

The reservation list for the chairmanship of municipal corporations will be issued directly by the said department. The Urban Development board will release the reservation list for the chairman of the Municipal Elections on a later date.

As of now, there are 115 municipalities in the state. Among these, five are Municipal Corporation, 48 are Municipals and 62 are Notified Area Council (NAC).

Similarly in the three Municipal Corporations, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur, the commissioners will submit information on demarcation and reservation to the Urban Development Department by November 15.
