Naba Das Quits Congress, Likely to Join BJD on Jan 24
Jharsuguda: Putting all speculation to the rest, Congress leader and Jharsuguda MLA Naba Das resigned from the primary membership of the grand old party on Wednesday.
This apart, Das also stepped down as the working president of the Odisha unit of Congress. He is likely to join the state ruling BJD.
“At the outset, I expressed my heartfelt gratitude for appointing me as Working President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Odisha. I have all my sincere regards to you,” wrote Naba in his resignation letter to the OPCC president Niranjan Pattnaik.
“I do not have any complain against Sj. Niranjan Pattnaik, President, P.C.C, Odisha. I have a very cordial relation with him,” the letter added.
“But the people and voters of my area want that I should contest the next election 2019 from BJD as they want our area should develop and I should join hands with Sj. Naveen Patnaik, The Hon’ble Chief Minister, Odisha,” he said further.
The MLA further said that all these valuable suggestions of my people; I shall place the Hon’ble Chief Minister on his recent visit to Jharsuguda on Dt: 24/01/2019.
Lastly, on public and voters pressurized request, I have decided to resign from Indian National Congress with Primary Membership and from the post of Working President, P.C.C, Odisha.
“I apologize for this resignation, as done so for the moto i.e. development first. So, I should join with BJD and with Hon’ble Naveen Patnaik,” Das concluded.
The Jharsuguda MLA is likely to join BJD during the Chief Minister’s visit to Jharsuguda on January 24. The CM is slated to visit the industrial city and inaugurate a slew of projects.
Speculations over Das quitting the party started making rounds after he said that he might join another party for the overall development of his area in December last year.
