Naba Das likely to quit Congress, join BJD on Jan 24

Jharsuguda: Congress leader and Jharsuguda MLA Naba Das once again hinted of quitting the grand old party and join the state ruling BJD.

Speaking about the speculation, Das said today that “There is no any reason why I will say goodbye to Congress and join BJD. The people of Jharsuguda and my supporters have urged me to fight as BJD candidate in the forthcoming general elections.”

“As I have said earlier, I will do what the people want. However, I have not given my resignation from the Congress,” he added.

Das is likely to join BJD during Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and BJD president Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Jharsuguda on January 24.

Patnaik is slated to visit the industrial city and inaugurate a slew of projects.

Das’ announcement came two days after he put rest to all the speculations over his leaving the Congress party. On January 11, he had said that he will contest the 2019 elections on a Congress ticket.

Speculations over Das quitting the party started making rounds after he said that he might join another party for the overall development of his area in December last year.
