Berhampur: After hours of chaos at the railway station here in Odisha, the railway authorities and fire personnel rescued a youth from the high tension electric tower on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, some passengers first spotted the man atop the high-tension tower at platform no-3 of the station and alerted the railway authorities, who immediately disconnected power supply in a bid to save the youth from coming in contact with the transmission wires.
The railway authorities and fire personnel soon engaged in a dialogue with the youth and managed to convince him to get down.
The youth, reportedly hailing from Assam and a mentally unstable person, was sent to hospital to examine his condition, an railway official informed.
Rail traffic came to a grinding halt in the station for nearly 2-hours due to the incident.
